Debra Shumar has spent more than 40 years inside manufacturing plants. Hired into the steel industry under Title IX, she rose rapidly through operations and quality leadership at LTV Steel, ITT Automotive, Inalfa Roof Systems, ATC Drivetrain, Webasto, Whirlpool Corporation, and Arvin Meritor. By the time she became Senior Vice President of a $13 billion company, she was overseeing 197 plants in 27 countries, and she'd learned the same lesson in every one of them: Tools and techniques don't fix a struggling plant. Mindset does.

That conviction is why Debra founded 3P Partners, her consulting practice built on People, Process, and Product, and why she wrote Mindset Architects, the book that turns four decades of manufacturing-floor-to-boardroom experience into a proven framework any manufacturing leader can use. Her own case studies do the talking: a $15 million turnaround in a Wisconsin plant in a single year, the "White Shirt Initiative" that changed behavior across a Brazilian plant floor, and the $150 million lesson a defective Ford Bronco roof taught an entire industry about building in quality from the start.

Consulting, a Book, and Broadview

Debra will tell you her career wasn't a straight line, and that she couldn't see where it was heading while she was living it. Decades across steel, automotive, and industrial manufacturing taught her that very few meaningful problems belong neatly inside one department, and that the knowledge an organization needs often already exists, separated by invisible walls between functions.

That lesson became 3P Partners, the consulting company she founded to help organizations see past those walls. Telling the story became Mindset Architects.
